X:657 T:Shaskeen, The B:Treoir 2001 M:C| L: 1/8 R:Reel N:"The Shaskeen Hornpipe" appears as a reel "Sheskan Reel", in Grier's collection but N:it plays better as a hornpipe. The title is thought to have come from the name of a N:rive in neighbouring Co. Longford, a tributary of the Inny near Ballymahon. Both of N:these tunes, together with many other rare tunes from the Drier and Sutherland N:collections from South Leitrim, can be heard on the excellent CD "Leitrim's Hidden N:Treasure", recorded by the very talented McNamara Family form Carrickavoher, N:Aughavas, Co. Leitrim, published by Drumlin Records in 1998.
