X:369 T:Thomond Bridge Hornpipe, The R:Hornpipe B:Treoir 1982 M:C| L:1/8 N:A version of this hornpipe was recorded on an old 78 by the Aughrim Slopes Ceil\'i Band N:from East Galway. The version, which is extremely interesting, contains rare piano N:variations played, as far as I can establish by Josie O'Halloran. As an exercise in N:taste and blend it deserves closer study and analysis coming from the grand masters N:themselves. The late Jack Mulkere, leader of the Aughrim Slopes in those years, who N:lived in Crusheen, Co. Clare since 1938 was a major source of folklore and history. N:His home was well worth a visit for any student of traditional Irish music. The first N:part of the tune (Bars 1-8) is based on a recent recording of Comhaltas Ceoltoir\'i N:\'Eireann entitled "We're Irish Still." In this recording, The Thomand Bridge is played N:by Eileen Falls, a fantastic young pupil of S\'eamus Connolly in Boston. The tune goes N:on to include the Aughrim Slopes version.
