X:647 T:Night Cap, The M:6/8 R:Double Jig L:1/8 B:Treoir 2000 S:Submitted by Paddy Ryan N:Both these jigs were recorded in the early 1930's (one of the few banjo solo N:recordings from that era) by Michael Gaffney who was born in 1896 in Mullaun, N:Arigna, Co. Roscommon. He made a number of duet recordings in the 1920's and the N:1930's with the legendary flute player, John McKenna (1880-1947) from nearby South N:Co. Leitrim. John McKenna recorded another version of The Nightcap in the early N:1920's under the title "Judy Callaghan's Jig."
