X:701 T:Mayor Harrison's Fedora B:Treoir 2003 M:C| L:1/8 R:Reel N:Paddy O'Brien the accordion maestro and great composer from Portroe, north N:Tipperary, and the legendary fiddler S\'eamus Connolly from Killaloe formed one of N:the truly great musical partnerships. They recorded a six track EP for Comhaltas in N:1973 entitled 'The Banks fo the Shannon' which featured the following two reels on N:the opening track. To this day these two reels are played together in traditional N:music circles such was the impact of'The Banks of the Shannon'. Mayor Carter N:Harrison Jnr was the mayor of Chicago during Francis O'Neill's time there as chief N:of police and the reel (no. 779 O'Neill's 1001) was named after the mayor's brown N:fedora hat. Johnny Cronin, like his brother Paddy Cronin, emigrated from his native N:Gneevguilla, Co. Kerry and this second reel is named after him. A simpler version of N:this reel, foundn in O'Neill's Waifs and Strays as Kitty O'Neill is associated with N:Paddy Cronin.
