X:720 T:Top the Candle B:Treoir 2005 R:Slip Jig M:9/8 L:1/8 N:Another tune from the Reilly family repertoire which, most likely, came from the N:fiddle master, Peter Kennedy from Ballinamore. Terry Reilly and his neighbour, Alex N:Sutherland, learned their fiddling from Peter Kennedy, and would have learned some N:of their repertoire from him also. Another setting appears in O'Neill's Music of N:Ireland, No. 1142, and in his Dance Music of Ireland, No. 428, attributed to James N:Kennedy, son of Peter, who emigrated to the USA and settled in Chicago. He N:contributed many tunes to O'Neill's collections. All of these tunes can be heard on N:Brian McNamara's excellent CD 'The Fort of the Jewels', which was launced last July.
